The Controller will own the full accounting and financial control function across Georgia and Florida. This role sits at the center of the business. It is responsible for job cost accounting, WIP reporting, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and financial reporting. These reports directly inform executive decision-making. The reporting lines are to the CFO. In addition, the Controller will work closely with the President and executive leadership. This Controller will be in the details and in the systems. Summary :

Controller Responsibilities:

– Lead all accounting operations for the civil construction business, including GL, AP, AR, payroll oversight, fixed assets, and cash management
– Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process with accurate and timely GAAP-compliant financial statements
– Manage percentage-of-completion accounting, cost-to-complete analysis, and WIP schedules
– Oversee job cost accounting within Trimble Viewpoint. Ensure accurate cost coding and reporting.
– Partner with project managers and operations leaders to analyze job performance, risks, and profitability
– Prepare executive reporting packages, including variance analysis, KPIs, and financial insights
– Serve as the primary owner of Trimble Viewpoint (Vista). Drive system setup, process improvements, and reporting accuracy.
– Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations in Georgia and Florida
– Support audits, tax filings, bonding, insurance, and lender reporting requirements
– Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and capital planning

Controller Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
– 7 – 10+ years of accounting experience with 3 – 5+ years in a Controller role
– Deep experience in heavy or civil construction accounting
– Proven expertise with percentage-of-completion accounting and WIP reporting
– Hands-on experience with Trimble Viewpoint (Vista/Viewpoint) is required
– Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting standards
– Advanced Excel skills and comfort working directly in financial data
– Experience with payroll systems, equipment costing, and project cost controls
– Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
– Willingness to be hands-on in a team-of-one environment on the civil side
– CPA or CMA is preferred but not required
